Abbott Lifecare infusion pumps are general-purpose pole-mounted home and hospital pumps, with wide rate and volume ranges, which can be used for virtually every area of patient care requiring standard volumetric infusion. Most require a dedicated set and function using piston/displacement operation. They can be used for standard or enteral infusion, or for parenteral or blood infusion using specialized sets.

Similar in appearance and function to the earlier-model Lifecare 3, these pumps have replaced the thumbwheel rate and dose limit switches with digital LCD input, and placed the pump reset control on the keypad instead of on the control knob. They can also be interfaced with a computer for remote control from a central station or hospital central computer system. Accuracy has been increased to +/- 3%. They all share the same dedicated sets. Performs secondary (piggyback) rate and volume infusion, with secondary rate limited to 1 - 300 ml/hr. Also has increased dose limit range.
